Default new motor or rotating assembly?

Ok so i know whats wrong with my engine and its like i said in another thread a broken connecting rod. I dont think the rest of the engine is messed up as it only has 60 K miles on it. If i got a new engine, where would be a good place to get oem spec ls1 for a 2002 z28? However, if anyone thinks i should just replace the bottom end of engine with a rotating assembly, please let me know if its worth it. I want to keep my z28 as long as possible so in short, would a new engine be better or a new bottom end of the existing engine? thnx guys!

At this point, you don't know if your block is any good. Lack of holes in the cylinder doesn't mean it's ok. Start looking for a new engine.

if i were you, i'd get a forged short block and as long as your top end is alright, just replace the short block. i'd say, if you have high horsepower plans for the motor in the future, do that for piece of mind. but if you can find a deal on a used factory motor for a lot cheaper and don't have the need for a forged short block, just go for that.

The connecting rod failures I have see have taken the block out also. I have one currently sitting behind the shop with two fist size holes in each side of the block.
