Starter removal 1998 with American Racing Headers
How hard is it to remove the starter on the LS1 with American Racing Headers. Looks like the headers just bearly clear. Have any of you had to removed the headers to pull the starter?

Looks like it's going to suck big time, if a shop would install the new starter for $100.00 and I supply the A/C Delco starter for $200.00 would it be worth it? $300.00 total installed.
Or should I attempt this my self on jack stands and save the $100.00? The labor seems pritty reasonable to me.

Ok I stopped being a puss and decided to go for it. The starter is so tight there was no way to get it out, up down side to side everything I did would not work. So I un-bolted the 2 screws that hold the old starter together gears fell out and it seperated. The starter fell right out at this point with no problems. Then i installed the red and small netural or ground wire and slid the new starter back in. For some reason it went in a lot easer then trying to pull the old one out.
I made sure no wires were touching the headers and zip tied the slack. Got back in the car after re-connecting the battery and presto works like a champ!
Thanks for everyones help!

hehe you should dry this at night on your back in the rain on a 91 camaro RS, you literally have to spin the starter 90 degrees bring ir forward 2-3 inches, tilt it up towards the motor about 45 degrees, slide it halfway out, then twist and turn and wrestle with it. and it eventually comes out haha

65,000 miles the starter started acting up. At first I thought it was the nutural clutch saftey switch, after replacing still had the same issue some times it would start and some times it would not. Replaced starter and no problems scence.

Not starting again!!!
I did notice after the security light went off it started. Could this be my alarm?
