Default Left rear brake light won't work.

I can't figure this out. I changed the bulb two times. The light comes on when I turn on the lights, but when I hit the brakes it won't get brighter. The right rear works fine. There are only two wires that run to the bulb, and as I said, it comes on when I turn on the lights, but won't go brighter when hitting the brakes.

Any ideas?

What he said^ or another thing it could be is the socket itself. Mine still work, but they are burnt to hell and I doubt they will last much longer even with the LED's I have in now. I know the front marker sockets are a problem that people have often. I bet the rears are just as crappy. I don't know where to get replacements tho.
