Default How to tell if there is a draw?

I come home from school every few weeks and every time i go to start up the TA the battery only has enough juice to turn the motor over a bit before it the starter starts clicking. It is a relatively new duralast gold battery so im wondering if there is a draw? What is the best way to tell? Thanks

Turn off the key, all accessories, close all doors and then take a multimeter and check the battery voltage and then wait about an hour or so and the check it again. This will tell you how much voltage is being drained. OR if you don't have a multimeter follow the first steps and then disconnect and if when you reconnect the negative batt lead it sparks then you have some parasitic draw...

One, remove the negative cable from the terminal and put a test light between the cable and the battery post. If the light glows, there is a drain. To find what circuit is causing the drain, remove one fuse at a time until the light goes away. Then, install them one at a time. When the light glows there is a drain, when the light is off, the bad circuit was removed. You may not get the light to turn off. In that case, it means that there is a drain in some other circuit that does not run through the fuse panel...

Ok... I just re-read your post... So the car isn't driven daily?? It sits for weeks at a time without starting?? If so then yes the battery will die... If that's the case, disconnect the battery if it's going to be stored for a long time

Also, I believe you should always have some draw to maintain the memory in the PCM.

As others suggested, what you would need to do to find out if you have a draw you don't want (as opposed to the computer which you would want) would be to remove the fuses for the computer and then test as described above.

Also, the computer draw is tiny so if you have a multimeter the amount of current could indicate whether it is a normal amount or abnormal amount of draw.

Oh, and you can just get a little automatic on/off battery tender if you don't want to leave it disconnected and have it reset your computer memory.
