Why is my battery dying?

Why is my battery dying? Ok so I bought this car and from day 1 the dash lights would not work when you turn the headlights on. So the other day my buddy and I tore into the wiring and could not detect the problem, we played with the dimmer switch and figured i had a bad dimmer switch so i was on my way to auto zone when he called and said do you know that your ip dimmer fuse is missing 
So we install a new fuse and what do you know I have working dash lights again, now the problem I am having is, since installing the ip dimmer fuse, my battery is drained by the next day. What would be causing this?
Kind of a pain in the *** thing, I was wondering if the dimmer switch is screwed up and constantly drawing power from the battery.
