Not Charging the Battery Well I just bought an 02 camaro z28 and wanted to get a radio that would charge and play music from my iphone, and in doing so the guy that installed the stero might have messed something up because now the battery won't hold charge. It was fine before the guy touched the car. Is there any wire going to the stereo that may be causing this problem? I bought the car off of a friend and he was straight forward about anything that was wrong and what was replaced. he mentioned the alternator is fairly new so I want to eliminate all options before having to remove the alternator to get it tested. any help will be greatly appreciated and useful. Oh and I forgot to mention that I an new to the LS1 so i am completley in the dark here.
doubtful the radio installer has anything to do with the alternator.
what is common is the 4 wire plug going to the alternator is not making good connection.
Not the main feed wire but the smaller wires going into a single flat plug that plugs into the alternator, these wires come from the PCM (computer) and tell the alternator to charge. Check that first, it's way under there and a bitch to get to. If that isn't it then pull the alternator and have it checked.
