Default Torque for the seat nuts...

My passenger seat has developed a bit of a squeak. I tightened up the nuts holding it to the floor and it got a little better. I didn't go crazy because I didn't want to risk breaking off one of the studs or anything.

Does anyone know what the torque value is supposed to be on those?

The floor nuts are 50 Nm or 37 LBft. The bolts holding the seat to the adjusters and the seat hinge bolts are 24 Nm or 18 LBft.

Suggest you drive around with the seat leaning forward and see if there are any changes. Or have someone sit in the seat. Usually the squeaks come from the hinge in the seat.

Yeah I dunno. I can get it to squeak when I shake it, and since I tightened the nuts slightly it doesn't squeak if the seat is moved forward, but if it is all the way back (where I usually keep it) it still squeaks. Seat back angle hasn't made any effect so far.

I will torque down everything and drive around with a passenger if it doesn't work.

What I left out in the original post for brevity's sake was I took the whole interior out over the summer to add some sound insulation... after the squeaking started I checked those nuts and they were a little loose. I snugged them up a bit but didn't make it completely go away.

If it's changing with track position meaning forward and rearward, it's coming from the track itself. There are more than likely some roller cages in there that have loosened up a bit over the years. You can add a little grease inbetween the upper and lower track sections and see if that helps. Won't help with looseness, but should quiet the squeek

Mine does it too & so far no way to stop it. I discovered its the seat shaking that makes the noise. I looked forever to track it down & finally realized while driving that the passenger seat shakes alot with no one in it no matter how tight the bolts are. I think it could be just from age or maybe just the way these seats are designed, not real sure. I just turn the radio up now enough so I dont hear that, LOL.

I have this problem too, i notice that it depends where the seat is locked in. When no ones in it and on notch close to the front, no squeak, but when someone gets in and moves it back the squeak comes about.

I'll take a look at that this weekend. Thanks.
