Loss of power after hitting a bump
Cruising down the highway yesterday 60mph on cruise control. I hit a expansion joint and it jolted me and the truck.
immediately I lost radio and doors unlocked and AC quit.
Radio came back on quickly and I locked the doors. Thats when I realized I was blowing hot air (no AC)
I took my exit and as I slowed I felt like I lost Power Steering.
I parked the truck and turned her off. Started her up and she started fine but idle seemed lower than normal. So I went in the store and came back out. When going slow if I turn the wheel my idle drops too low and kicks off my AC.
Got her home. Checked the Freon level- Its Good.
Checked the idle with HPTuners and it is 550 which is what the tune called for.
Disconnected battery and let the truck sit for an hour.
The air-filter is dirty so Im going to replace that.
Still having a problem when turning at low RPM's it dips to low to keep the AC on.
No Lights or leaks... Checked O2 sensors through HP Tuners and they are performing normal.
No Mods except for Flowmaster Exhaust and a tune.
2003 Escalade 6.0
What the heck happened.
Ant ideas are helpful.

Cruising home I was on a smooth piece of road and my doors unlocked and AC compressor kicked off. again
I re locked and turned the AC off and back on. and it hasn't happened since. I was thinking a ground issue but that doesn't explain the steering issue.
When sitting still if I turn the wheel my idle drops waaay down. All belts are good, no vacuum leaks. What would cause the steering to pull the idle down.

Sounds like you may have lost contact in the ignition switch over the bump, this would have unlocked the doors and turned off the radio. If you turn on the truck and wiggle the switch around can you duplicate the condition? Your idle concern may not be related. Check out tsb# 04-06-04-040

problem is back and getting worse with smaller bumps. Same unlock and ac compressor kicks off.
I wiggled the key and couldn't duplicate the problem.
I believe it is a loose ground but I cn find the grounds on this truck.
Does anyone have a diagram of ground locations?
BTW-Steering an Idle are all good

I replaced the Ignition Switch and still the same problem
With the doors locking and unlocking I keep thinking about the ignition switch. It's unlikely that I got a bad one from the dealer. Wiggle test didn’t show anything.
Also the whole truck doesn’t lose power. My radar detector stays powered- it is tied into HVAC.
But my MPG on the DIC readout always resets when the power flash hits.
Followed the ground strap to the ground on the back of the block and it was tight so was the ground on the front of the fame.
This is driving me nuts.

Getting gas yesterday and I looked under the hood for some reason... Saw a broken ground cable. The one going from the hood to the firewall. I know it is not important but I removed it hen I got home and I switched keys...To the older key I was using earlier in the summer. (I replaced the key when I got a new fob)
I drove around yesterday and just got back from a little road trip on Oklahoma bumpy Highway I-40.
She didn't blink once.
could it be that the new key that I had been using had a bad resistor in the key. It doesn't make sense to me because that system is turned off once the car is started.
Anyways my fingers are crossed that my problem is gone.

Still at it:
Think I Isolated the problem...
First- I replaced the useless ground on the hood and visually checked all front grounds. (All Good)
The Short is happening much, much less frequently
I found a stretch h of road that would trigger the short. And I drove it a few times tonight. I found that by pushing in on the key (Towards the column) I wouldn’t short out.
If I let go of the key It would short out.
I've already replaced the Ignition Switch, so could it be the key mechanism? If I jiggle the key I cannot duplicate it, only over rough bumps..
