Default 1993 Trans AM LOOSE STEERING WHeel..Up and DOWN. WHy?

My steering wheel is no longer solid at all and is loose push down and when driving aggressive is pretty dangerous. What part goes bad in the F Bodies???? I am trying to figure out what it is that gets worn out so I can order the correct part. Here is a diagram!!!!

if you have a tilt column i would say that the pivot pin is broken or stuck in the adjust position...if not a tilt column it sounds like the u-joint that connect to the upper steering shaft is worn out its #8 in the picture

I suggest pulling the airbag and horn to get a look at whats going on underneath. I had the same problem with another vehicle. It turned out to be some bolts that held the wheel to the column had back off. Some loc-tite and an allen wrench and I was good to go. This was on a tilt wheel type assembly.

This is a very common problem with the GM tilt columns. The column in my thirdgen was just as bad as you say yours is. There are 4 bolts that come loose, and can even fall out. You will need to tear down your column to tighten those bolts. Do a quick search to find a step by step guide.
