Default Difference between 91 and 93?

Have read a few replies lately saying that the LS1 was recommended to run on 91 octane...and that sometimes 93 octane isn't as good for it?

While this doesn't make sense to me, 93 is just a higher grade...shouldn't do anything extra for you, and shouldn't do anything harmful either. 93 is all there is around here, so I have no choice. But is there really a difference between the two?

I don't think 93 is gonna be worse for it than 91 i would think it'd be better. Higher octane fuels are a little dirtier burning but I don't see as how that would make a difference other than maybe a little more black on the pistons. 87 however in a high compression motor equals bye bye bottom end. Detonations a bitch.

dirtier burning? where did you hear that?

you've already answered you question. the ls1 neither benifits or suffers on 93. compression isnt so high that 93 is needed and 91 holds off detonation pretty well. I've ran both in my car with no change in performance.

If he meant Dirtier = slower, thats cool.

It burns slower. I've never heard the term dirtier to describe it either........
