Default Help! Blower Motor Makes Weird "Buzzing" Sound

Hi All,

2000 Trans Am WS6 M6 - When I turn the heat/AC on in my car, the higher the setting i,e, I, II, III, IV - the louder this "vibration" or buzzing noise is. Does not happen with blower motor off....any insight as to how I should go about tracking the sound down and fixing it would be greatly appreciated. Sounds like its coming from "inside" the glove box

Thanks!

It might be your heater core. Does your passenger side floorboard feel wet and sticky?

No, everything is bone dry and doesnt smell like maple syrup. Sometimes it goes away for months at a time and then comes back randomly. its a really weird situation.

Sounds like the blower motor or the Fan blower itself r balanced and maybe it threw off its weight !

Before you do anything else, I would remove the blower motor and see if any debris has fallen into the fan. Mine used to make a noise just like you described. I actually bought a new motor and planned to replace the stock one, but then I pulled the stock one out and found a couple leaves in it, which apparently became stuck in the blades and caused the noise. So I removed the leaves, reinstalled the original blower, and haven't heard the noise ever since (that was several years ago).

The blower motor is under the kick panel on the passenger side of the dash. Removal was a pretty simple job from what I remember.

+1 on the leaves. Don't ask me how they get in there. But they do!

I pulled one out of a half ton chevrolet one time and found a rat in it, dead of course. Still dont know how the customer didnt smell it lol. Sorry off topic. but yeah start by pulling the motor out and see what you find.

Well, it must have been something stuck in there that cleaned itself out, the other day the sound just randomly stopped happening and all is well.

Thanks

The noise may come back if it's debris. Mine would stop for a little while too sometimes, and then come back when the leaves got jammed in the blade again.
