o2 sensor question So i bought my 97 t/a a couple weeks ago with the ses light on and didnt think anything of it because the car has bolt-ons in sig and the previous owner didnt care about the light being on. well i do. so i went to autozone yesterday to see what the code was gonna be. turns out there were 14 codes! Most have to do with o2 sensors. Is there something i can get to trick my car into thinking i have o2 sensors so i wont get ses codes? My friend has something like this for his 02 mustang gt if it helps some of my codes are: p0131-bank 1 sensor 1 low voltage p0134-bank 1 sensor 1 circuit condition p0140-bank 1 sensor 2 circuit condition p0141-bank 1 sensor 2 heater condition p0160-bank 2 sensor 2 circuit condition p0161-bank 2 sensor 2 heater condition p0171-fuel trim bank 1 condition i also got a dealer code-1371 (no idea what it is) I appreciate any help you can give |

Does it even have rear o2 sensors? Sounds like the fronts are going bad too, at least one of them. Make sure you actually have rear o2 sensors (not missing, not simulators). If you do, then replace both bank 1 sensors and bank 2 sensor 2. |
His sig says ORY which likely means no cats whatsoever. In that case you will not be able to run a rear O2 without setting a code unless you use a simulator. You can of course edit out the codes (set to "No Error Reported") which is a work-around. I am not familiar with the operation of the 1997 computer so I do no know if this is viable on that year. For the fronts there could be all sorts of things going on. They could actually be bad. The LT's are preventing them from warming enough to work correctly. There could be exhaust leaks. It would be worth giving it a look for leaks even though it is most likely this is simply a result of LT's on the O2 temps and their function. As above you may be able to "tune off" the codes. |
the car doesnt have cats. simulators must be what my friend was talking about. how do they work and where can i get some? |
