TA just started mis firing I need some help
I have had a plug foul and know those symptoms. I also had a bad plug wire and know that symptom as well. This is different. I went ahead and replaced all plugs and wires and it is still missing. I can smell the gas but cant identify the missing cylinder(s). Should I change the coils? Appreciate any advice.

I just unplugged the coils 1 by 1 and verified spark @ all cylinders. I did replace the o2 sensors a while back. They were too short so I made them longer. Possible my handy work didnt hold up?

That'll do it.
I repaired a vehicle a guy brought me. He took to a performance shop to to have h/c intake install. The car was dead on 2 cylinders.
The shop tried to fix. They gave up on it. Left the guy hi and dry.
Turns out it was the Taylor wires separated from the boots. So no spark. 2 were completely severed on the inside. Others hanging by threads. I guess they yanked em hard enuff to separate them. It took me 20min to figure it out. I just gave him a whole set of stock truck wires I had.

No, engine was running perfect. Pistons are fine. I was getting puffs of white smoke when I nailed it from a 50mph roll. So we knew the valve seals were bad. They were all bad. Some so bad the valves fell right out from gravity.....lol
Here's what bad valve seals, from the burning oil, does to the tops of pistons. It causes terrible detonation under very light throttle on hot days because all the burnt oil gets red hot and pre-ignites the fuel-air. After we fixed the valve seals and of course all new springs, retainers and guides.......no more detonation no matter how hot, and no more smoke.
This happened approximately 80,000-90,000 miles ago. Still running like a champ.
