Default '99 Z28 - Intake Manifold Removal ?

'99 Z28 w/243K miles

I have a slight oil leak that appears to be coming from behind the intake manifold. I've searched a few threads here and this seems to be a common issue.

How hard is it to pull the intake off of the LS1 motor? I assume that I have to clear the fuel rails and various items off of the top of the motor, and then access the intake. Can I reach all of the bolts that are located under the cowl, or is this something that requires dropping the motor somehow? Do I pull the valve covers off?

Additionally, I've read a few things about the LS6 intake. Is this the "standard" upgrade that I might as well do while I have the old intake off?

Any other thoughts?

Thanks

Bill

I just did mine this past weekend, take off lid and coupling from throttle body, disconnect fuel line on driver side, there's a small vacuum line on back of pass side u need to take off, Intake has 10 bolts, I could only pull front 3 on pass and 2 on driver side, other u need to pull up alittle and tape so they don't drop back down, then u can slide intake forward slowly, couple more connectors behind driver side also I believe

Thanks. I suspect that it's my oil pressure sensor that's leaking. It's located behind the intake manifold, right? My plan is to replace it and fix the leak. Then new gaskets for the intake. Sound right?

If you can pick up an Ls6 intake for cheap swap it out when you do this repair. It's a great upgrade for future mods and it's an easy bolt on 10 HP.

I would change lifter valley gasket, intake manifold gaskets, replace vacuum lines, oil sensor...

Make sure to get some Degreaser and the quick disconnect tool for fuel Line
