Dash lights on and don't know why
 

Ok Heres my situation my car died and an Associate I know jumped my car but when I put my cables on my car it started to smoke and get really hot I looked over and saw that he was switching the red and the black. After getting it charged up my brake and service engine light turned on. So I think he fried something what do y'all think

This is the internal engine section. Are your dash lights inside your engine?
