clutch pedal start safety switch? whats the part called that when you push the clutch ...it allows you to start the car? mine sticks also may be going bad....and Im able to start the car without pushing in the clutch. I wanna fix that. thanks |
Clutch pedal position switch. It's under the lower IP panel and contacts the panel. You might also be out of adjustment - although they do go bad. If the switch is bad, you also shouldn't be able to use your cruise control. |
hmm? My cruise control works fine. 9 times out of 10 I dont have to push the clutch in to start my car. |
When you have the cruise control on, will pressing the clutch cut it off? (It should.) My expectation would be that if the clutch pedal switch is giving you a signal that the pedal is depressed, (and allowing the engine start) then it should do the same and prevent the cruise control from kicking in when selected. Was the car an M6 originally from the factory? Maybe there is something odd like the clutch pedal switch being on the edge of adjustment and it needs a pressurized clutch to press the pedal against the switch? I remember when I put in my Tick MC, I had to adjust the switch for the new pedal position. |
Clutch start switch. replace that and recheck. |
just an FYI.....I replaced the switch $5.99 at AZ and all is good Im back in business and now have to push the clutch in to start as it should be. wssix99: everything worked as far as what you said...only thing was it would sometimes let me start without having to push the clutch in..Cruise worked normally...everything worked normally except for the start issue. factory M6 but im all good now thanks for the help guys |
