Default 93 LT1 Oil Pressure Gauge ??

I'm in need of some help with my oil pressure gauge on my 93 Camaro.

The other day while I was driving it I noticed that the oil pressure gauge was pegged past 80 PSI. Shut the engine off and no change. Unplugged the sending unit no change. I pulled the clear lens off to be sure the needle wasn't stuck against the backing but as soon as I turn on the key (engine still off) it pegs the gauge. I also followed the wire from the sender to the ECM to be sure it isn't damaged, and it looked fine.

Has anyone here had this problem or have any ideas of what I could try next??

Thanks
Dennis

Ground the wire at the sensor end with the key ON - if the gauge goes to zero, then the issue is the sensor.

Thank you for the response!

I actually found the problem today. The oil pressure sensor wire had grounded itself on the firewall where it goes inside the car. The grommet that the group of wires go through had fallen out of the firewall so the wires were rubbing against the sheet metal firewall.

I repaired the wires, installed a new grommet, and it seems to be good to go.

Thanks again!

Other way around with sensor unplugged it should be zeroed. Ground the tan wire and the gauge should peg.
