Default Cannot turn headlight manually

So I picked up my 99 T/A yesterday, guy said motor in headlight was dead but I remember on my previous trans am I could manually turn it . When I try to manually turn this one nothing happens, the **** feels very loose and the headlight has a lot of play in it if i lift it ( maybe 2" ). Whereas the good one barely budges. The motor still makes the ugly sound when i turn the lights on. Any idea on where I should start looking? I just want to get the headlight up to at least pass inspection

Can you get to the motor linkage to unhook it from the light? If so that would tell you if its the light thats stuck or if the motor assembly is just not lifting it. I have never fooled with mine so cant say if this is even possible with the light stuck in the down position. G.L.

The gear is all stripped to hell. When you pull up on the door or turn the ****, the worm gear on the motor isn't engaging anything.

Pull up on the door as far as it will let you go and then turn the **** - it should catch at that point.
