Default Car has power, won't start.

I'm completely stumped on this one. Car started clicking to start and I thought it was the battery. Let it sit because I was busy with work, then the car fires right up and runs fine for a month. Now its back to nothing, I go to start it and i get power but nothing when I turn it over. Switches batteries to a new one and its the same problem. Any ideas of what to check?

Have you checked the starter? Maybe loose wire? Ground connection as well.

All dash lights come on, radio works, all the power is there, just nothing turning over. I never tried holding the ignition on for 10-15 seconds to see if that works. And it was this morning, it was around 65 degrees as well, but this afternoon it was 84 and it gave me problems, but it finally turned over after 5 or 6 tries.

Yea maybe time for a new one with nearly 140k miles on it. My dad broke his shortly after we installed the big block. It sheared the teeth and broke the housing on the starter damn near in two lol oh well live and learn. Hopefully its the starter and your bad luck ends there.

Are you hearing a click of the solenoid? If you aren't is the car an auto or manual? If manual check the clutch switch. Disconnect it and jumper it while trying to start it. If it starts you need a new switch. If it doesn't you may have a bad starter and it's time to replace it

how exactly is this done? have someone turn the key to start position then use multimeter at the positive and negtive wires at the starter?
if yes what should the voltage be?
Thanks

Well if you try and start the engine and all you hear is a clicking noise then your starter has power. Thats the easiest way to check. You can use a ohm meter if you want, idk what volts it should be at. Lastly take a long screw driver and touch the positive and negative ends on the starter if it sparks then its getting power.

You can check you leads as well that are on the starter. Maybe they are loose or maybe they need to be replaced. Have a person try and start the car while you are looking at the starter. If anything take it off and test it. This way you can see if its actually working properly if it doesn't then get another one from auto zone.

MAC excellent video.

just crawled under car to attemp mearsuring voltage at the starters signal wire.

I can only see one terminal not sure if it's the battery lead or negative going back into starter or if it's the signal wire from ignition?

must the starter be removed to test the wire from the ignition switch?

like can I remove the 2 bolts holding the starter to access the ternimals and ground the starter w/ a wire.

I can't fit my hand around the start I can't even see the terminals
