Default Want some thoughts. Ticking from engine bay

So the other day i was driving on the freeway for like 20 mins. When i got off the freeway i heard some ticking i had never heard.

I didnt drive it the following day.
Today i got home was showing my friend the noise so i turned it on checking it out, I could hear it on the Driver side of engine bay. I shut it off.
He told me why dont i take a video and post it see if anyone has any thoughts on what exactly it could be so he goes to start it up again and the ticking is gone we rev it up no noise.

Any ideas on what it could be?

Thanks you guys ahead of time.

Would spark plugs cause any ticking? I did play with two of the wires prior to the tick going away

Absolutely if it were arcing to ground. Was it running a little rough at the time? If it happens again, check it out in the dark (carefully) and you will see a light show where it's arcing.

It can. I've seen it happen before.

let me bump up my old thread instead of creating a new one. about a week ago i got a ticking noise again but this was after driving on the freeway. once i got in to city streets the noise went away. so today again same drive on the freeway which was around 10-15 min on the freeway going 70-80 mph the ticking started again. I was able to take a video this time fortunately but not a good video. Again once i get in to the city itll make the noise for a little and then it will go away

I had a tick in my first ls1, turned out to be a bent pushrod. Ticked for a while, a hard launch finally caused its demise. Not to hard of a fix if you get at it before it breaks.

Does it sound high in the motor? Like maybe valvetrain? I had rocker arm trunnion bearing go that sounded like that. Car still seamed to run fine but was ticking like crazy. Only takes 10 min to unplug the coil packs, and unbolt the bracket they are on, then there are 4 bolts that hold the valve cover on. If they are all good it would be fairly easy to take them off and pull the push rods out at that point.

If it is the trunnion bearing they are super cheap to replace one from GM maybe 15. About 200 to replace all of them with upgraded comp cam trunnion bearings. If one went...other will most likely follow in time

I had a tick on my truck that almost sounded like a rod knock that would come and go on the freeway, turns out it was a couple snapped exhaust bolts causing an exhaust leak.
