Default Fuel pump whining in my '97 Camaro?

I hear a loud whining noise from the rear of my car as soon as I start it and it gets slightly louder as I accelerate. Is the fuel pump bad? What else could it be?

your car lol. Id rather replace a $10 part that takes 10 min to replace and is known to cause this issue than a $200 part that requires several hours of work and disassembly.

your call.

Even if the problem ends up being the pump itself, it's certainly not a waste to change the filter unless you just changed it recently or you're trading the car in tomorrow.
