Shorted positive battery post to ground.... Gonna give this another try. This happened back in 2008 but car has been stored for the most time since. I know I've only put 113 miles on since 2011. Have some time so trying to fix everything. Replaced the battery in 2008. Dropped a tool and shorted positive post to ground. Split second. Radio, power door locks, key fob, power seats, courtesy lights and maybe others don't work. I replaced BCM with a brand new BCM and brand new main positive wire. Other small things over the years. BCM clicks and nothing works. Any ideas. I have a list of things to do to car and this electrical problem is right at the top. |
Fuse and fusible links. There are electrical schematics that you can use for fee if you register on Autozone's web site. |
Was a fusible link. The local dealership has first come, first serve in service department on Saturday so next morning I was there half an hour early. Already half a dozen idiots ahead of me in line to pay over $100 for oil change and tire rotation. Last time I took a car in for diagnosis it was $50. Long time ago. It's now $100. Let them find problem. If they fix it the diagnosis fee goes toward the fix. Anyway he said they had 2 hours labor finding it but would only charge me 1 hour, the $100. Link was $5 so no brainer. $105 and my 8 year problem is fixed. Just wanted to give update. |
Thanks for posting back. This is only the second time I've heard of a fusable link blowing. The other time it was a direct short to the battery. |
