Oil pan removal with transmission out

Default Oil pan removal with transmission out

So im new to posting on here but i have read a lot of threads basically i was wanting to know if its possible to remove the oil pan on my 2000 ss with the transmission out or will i still have to drop the k member

Prob yes to both. I just dropped my pan with the trans in, I just dropped the k memeber a bit (not out of the car). Go get bolts about an inch or two longer than stock. Put those in and one at a time drop the k member. Much easier than taking the trans out.

Ya I already had the trans out for a leak I thought it would possibly be easyier with the trans out but ended pitting it back in and then dropping the pan

Actually it's pretty easy to do if you raise the engine and lower the K-member. You'll have all kinds of room. That's when it makes sense to change the motor mounts. It also makes the mounts a breeze. Oh ... and while you're at it, if you have high mileage probably a good idea to change the oil pump and timing chain. You're already there.
