04 cts-v cylinder 7 misfire
hey guys, was wondering if anyone has help to offer on this issue,
i have an 04 Cadillac ctsv with 97k,
code 0307 popping up, engine running rough, sluggish constantly.
Swapped coils 1 and 7, cleared codes, then test drove it. Light popped up again and flashes upon acceleration.
Inspected the area around cylinder 7, have oil build up around the general area.
Then I pulled the spark plug, looked like this..
Also had an O2 sensor code pop up but after clearing codes it stayed off.
Anyone have any idea what I gotta do from here?

Also was driving doing about 70mph when this happened, heard a slight ticking noise as engine started running rough. Was losing oil also, had to add half a quart here and there, didn't notice any major puddles under car but I'm thinking its burning off the exhaust.
Changed the oil, wasn't even at the 5k interval but looked thick and sludgy.
Would a compression test tell me if it's the rings? Was thinking of grabbing one online for $20

There's really no test for bad valve seals....
Only symptoms......Blue smoke at idle if they are really bad.....and like I said above, if you cruise steady at say 50mph, then go WOT and leave a trail of smoke for a couple seconds but then it clears up as you keep accelerating.
97K miles.....probably need a valve job on the heads. Not too expensive, but takes about 2-3 hours to remove the heads, have to buy new gaskets, then about 2-3 hours to install.
The longer that oil is getting in, the more and more thick build up of burnt oil is killing that piston. It will cause pre-ignition (detonation) in that cylinder on hot days. You'll be able to clean the pistons when the heads come off.
When my valve seals went bad.....my pistons top surfaces were 100% covered with burnt oil....couldn't see any metal. I had massive detonation issues.
