AC clutch doesn't disengage.
Ok, just replaced a leaking compressor. Everything works fine, vents blow nice and cold, the clutch does engage and disengage with normal use. The problem I'm having, and I believe this is what killed the previous compressor, is that the AC clutch doesn't disengage under load or at high rpms
The compressor came from my 2000 Z28 M6, and went into a 2001 SS M6. I know for a fact that it would disengage while in my z28. Step on the gas with the AC on and the vents would blow warm, return to normal driving, they blow cold again, I've also revved it while under the hood and saw the clutch disengage and re-engage. The ss blows cold regardless.
What could be wrong? This was a pain to do and I'd rather not ruin another compressor. Also, is the sensor on the line that goes from the condenser to the evaporator the ac pressure sensor? Could that be the culprit? Can it be removed without venting the system, because i have a spare from my z28.
On a side note, after I took a test drive, there was ice on the drier. Never seen that before. I added just under 24oz of r134a to the system.

It shouldn't disengage unless the rpm go above 2500, under that it should be engaged at all times. Yes there is a pressure transducer in the line to monitor line pressures but this system does not cycle the compressor. The transducer supplies info to the PCM which it uses to do a number of things.

Is this something that can be turned off with tuning? I believe that someone has has tuned out skip shift because its not active and the car has no skip shift eliminator. Maybe they messed with this while in there.

Connect both high and low and then turn a/c and fan on high with the windows down. Hold motor to about 1500 or 2000 rpm and take readings. Depending on outside temps you will want to see different pressures, so google a chart to reference. 34 low side is only right in like 60 degree weather.
