arced battery backwards Filled my dumbass quota last night... put the battery back in but had the terminals backwards and fried the main 250A fuse on +12V to starter cable. Trunk mounted battery and dropped it in backwards, had the lugs on for a few seconds before noticing the hot cables and smoking fuse. Fuse didn't completely melt but I'm sure enough juice got through to fry something. This is my first personal experience with this one. What do I need to check after every fuse in the car? |
For anyone that cares, 250A fuse on the + cable saved everything. |
Did everything power up? I would have assumed the ecu at a minimum for have popped. |
Few seconds connected backwards drained most of the battery and half way melted the fuse (Stinger 250A ANL fuse inline about 18" from battery). Fired right up after bench charge and new fuse. Let her idle for a few minutes to confirm alternator still worked. Started raining before I could test drive but everything seems to be working fine. |
