Default Idle issue afternoon fixing TPS

Started throwing a P0122 code (TPS low voltage) and just changed the TPS this afternoon. The code is gone but the idle is hanging high (1,500 - 2,000 range).

I’ve run the scan tool and my TPS voltages and percentages are all in line, so that seems to be working great. I find that if I punch the throttle a bit sometimes it will idle down. Eventually it will idle down on its own with enough street driving, but it just hangs high on start up and doesn’t want to go down on its own.

Any thoughts on what I could do to get the idle to settle back down? Based on the TPS readings and the fact it will actually go down after a while, I’m thinking there isn’t some physical obstruction keeping the idle high.

Since the sensor is new, try this.

Unplug tps, key on engine off one minute

Key off, plug in tps.

Start car. See if it is any bettter. This will rezero the tps. Like taring a scale.

i had this same issue, double check that your throttle blade is fully closing, if you didn't recently change a throttle body than this is probably moot. mine happened after a tb swap and i had to extend the cable and fixed it

Thanks for the help. I did unplug and reset the TPS. Throttle blade looks good. It’s still a little fussy with surging on start up, however it will eventually settle down when driving. Hopefully with enough road time it settles in where it should be.

What brand is this new TPS? Perhaps it's not as good as the original. It shouldn't need much road time at all to relearn idle conditions, especially if you've done the TPS reset process mentioned above.
