U bolts for sway bars Does anyone know exactly what size u bolt is required for the rear sway bar bracket mounts. The parts store wasn't really helpful in figuring this out and id like to have a replacement before trying to get the old rusty ones off. |
If you're talking about the stock 10 bolt housing, the housing tube OD is 2 5/8" nominally considered as 2 3/4". The GM bolt ( u-bolt ) is P/N 10018208. I had to contend with rust too and first replacements were muffler/exhaust clamp u-bolts, then converted to stainless steel muffler/exhaust clamp u-bolts. If you use stainless steel, a regular steel nut is required as a SS nut will seize on a SS u-bolt. |

I had to get longer U bolts at Home Depot to lower the sway bar for my watts link... they fit sorta perfect... https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt...6906/204273759 |
i cant believe UMI is pretty much like the only place to get a new bolt kit from and they want $100. BMRs options seem to be weld on for slightly cheaper so not much help there. |
I got a new longer U bolt kit at Advanced Auto, I am pretty sure. |
