Default Door Hinge Roller Replacement

I've taken the hinge off and removed the roller. I am trying to remove the pin. What a pain.

I saw a great youtube video from Matt that made it look easy. Wish I could contact him. He's not very far from me.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Are you referring to the small pin which retains the check roller to the larger pin; or the larger pin which actually goes through the hinges?

I serviced the driver hinge assembly last fall on my S10; including the entire detent / check roller sub-assembly. I just bought all new parts. I have no desire to ever attempt removing the small pin for the check roller.

ETA
On the S10, removal is a destructive process, so there really is no choice but total replacement.

I think if you cut the pin and then drive it out it's easier.

I agree. That is what I did.

Here is the video that I was referring to.

I ended up bringing the hinge to a repair shop. I sent them the video for reference.

Added to the sticky!

This looks like a perfect job for a slide hammer. If I were to do this, I would use the slide hammer (with vice grip attachment) for removing that pin.

(This is the perfect once-in-a-long-while type of tool to get from Harbor Freight for a low investment.)

Bringing this back from the dead. I've tried following the process in this video but I cannot get the pin out. I've tried heating the hinge with a torch and using a punch and hammer but it's just beating up the hinge. It's like the pin is welded in. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Dorman makes replacement hinges. I'm not sure about the roller.

Very expensive, but so sweet, saving my pennies for these!👍
Edit: Sorry for all the deletions and edits, didn't realize I was posting 3rd gen stuff initially!

I put these in and regreted it. I would have preferred the non-greasable ones. The non-greasable busings are a huge upgrade and its impossible to get a standard grease gun on these fittings once the hinge is reinstalled. (So you probably won't be aplying much grease.)
