What's the name? LS1 engine was surging, even dying sometimes at a stop and giving me the SES light. Turned out to be a vaccum leak in a rubber hose going to/from the manifold. Solved it by shrinking a piece of rubber over the crack. Now I need to find a new piece, but have no luck finding one. Any suggestions? It's the rubber hose circled in yellow. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...2308fb13a6.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...515a54ef4f.jpg |
congrats for being the millionth person to have this problem ! :).... not only is that hose FUBAR...but the hose behind the intake you cant see is FUBARED too best solution is a LS6 valley cover...you will never have this hose problem again ! and it is much cleaner looking |
Thanks, I guess the intake manifold is coming off soon... |
When the manifold is off, new intake manifold gaskets are worth considering. After ~18 years mine were just about toast. Definitely wouldn't have wanted my car to be out in a heavy rain etc. |
Definitely will change all gaskets and soft parts during the swap, thanks. |
After reading the how-to about this upgrade, I see that I have to reuse this very part of the hose even with an LS6 valley cover. I can only find a whole line assembly which is almost as expensive as a cover itself. Anyone knows a source where I can find this seperate part of the hose assembly? |

You don't reuse that with the 04-05 LS6 Valley Cover (p/n 12577927) has its own PCV valve, and you use the LS6 hose (p/n 12594779) to hook up to that port on the intake. Cap the rear opposite side valve cover PCV connection with (p/n 12568011) I just did all of this as part of my top end rebuild on my 99 LS1. |
the old style Valley cover is NLA....and a good time to check your knock sensors and KS wiring harness....as well as the oil pressure sender with the mani off I do all my LS engines with this mod.... |
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...6fbe286f77.jpg Just cut a piece of 3/8 hose and connect it to the inline PCV valves nipple and then connect it to the intake manifold port. Problem solved! |
