Time for the high mileage oil?
My LT1 is currently around 77K and when I have my next oil change the car will just be hitting 80K. I run nothing but Castrol 10w-30 in my car but I was wondering if it was worth changing to those oils that say they are made for engines with over 75K miles. I mean what do these other oils do that is different from regular oil?

Some of those oils have Teflon and other special lubricants to decrease wear and help decrease blow by. But with only 77K, i would not be concerned about needing that. Thats just now broke in right.

There are a couple of things that you have to look at when changing over to a high mileage oil. First of all you won't hurt anything by changing over to the higher mileage, but the question is do you need it at this time. If your not consuming a lot of oil between oil changes and when you look at your oil before changing it and it doesn't appear that dirty or worn. You probably don't need the higher mileage oil. Those are the main things that your going to have look at when upgrading yourself to a premium oil.
