It's that time again... The oil service light just came on and I'm wondering what's the best oil to use? For a while I was taking my car to the dealer but I'm fed up having to wait 3 hours just to get my oil changed. I was thinking about doing the oil change myself from now on but don't know what oil/filter brand to get. Suggestions? |
Search internal engine. Covered in great detail. Good synthetic oils: Amsoil, Mobil 1 0w40, german castrol.... Good filters: Mobil 1, wix, K&N.... |
Ah cool, thank you! |
How do you reset the light after changing the oil? |

Thanks. Now if could only find out how to do it one a 2002 Mercedes C240 :D |
Amsoil's XL 5w30 or 10w30 along with the SDF32 filter is what I recommend if you don't like to change your oil too often... drain interval is 7500 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first. It's the oil I use and I change my oil twice a year... once before race season, and once after. :D If you have any questions about Amsoil or would like to order, shoot me a PM... I have good prices for LS1TECH members and can ship right to your door. |
i use Mobil 1 0W-40 Fully Synthetic. Great Oil, I have no consumption problems, and it keeps my oil pressure high, and actually improved gas mileage, as well as lessens valve train noise when the engine is first started after sitting for awhile. I use the Mobil 1 filter as well. I am a true fan of their products! Thats what I reccomend. Also you might try a search to find some other info, there have been a few threads about filters as well, so that might help ya too. Welcome to LS1 Tech! (don't take offense if you have been here a long time, im just referring to ur post count) Nathan |
