Car wont start.?.? please help!
 

Started just fine 5 mins earlier, then turned car off, went back to turn it on 5 mins later, nothing. Guages came on, but the engine does nothing. Doesnt try to turn at all. Security light flashes. Tried setting and unsetting alarm. Locking and unlocking car. Nothing Tried jumping it, nothing. Anyone???

your problem is VATS...
i dont remember the fix off the top of my head, but thats what your want to search for

vats bypass, vats dissable... ect ect ect..

still doesnt start, tried push starting it, wont start. Iv read all of the threads, but none have a conclusion. anyone have any ideas? If its the VATS, what should I do?

I just got my 2001 WS 6 A4 about a month ago. I had no issues until a couple weeks ago when I noticed my security light started coming on while driving. Sometimes when I get in my car it won't start for a couple turns then it magically just works.

We went on a long trip the other day and it didn't come on the whole weekend, which was odd because it had been coming on while driving every single time, like 30 seconds after I start driving. I started thinking and figured maybe since I had packed some stuff and had put it in the back, that maybe I didn't have my hatch closed all the way.

It didn't come on again all last week, until just a few minutes ago when I was going on a food run. It came on when I gunned it from a stop, then went off shortly after. Then on the way home I turned my stereo off and it just so happened to come on right when the power attenae came all the way down.

I really don't think it's my keys or ignition cylinder or wires in my case so what else could it be? Maybe I just don't have my hatch closed good or something, or maybe electrical having to do with the stereo or something else possibly?

my security light has never come on before. I had just driven the car less than 3 mins earlier with no problem. Now it wont start, or try for that matter, gauges come on, its almost the same as if I were trying to start my car without pushing in the clutch. Tried diff. keys nothing works. Im dreading having to take it to the dealer.

try to jiggle the steering column. mine wouldnt start and i twisted the steering column and viola... fired right up.

did you actually do a search on the word VATS?
