OK go to start the car, turn key and all lights come on bla bla bla. Go to turn to start and it just clicks and everything shuts off, even the dome lights. try to turn key again absolutely nothing, like the batt is totally dead, I checked it has a full charge. I wait 5 min and try again. ok turn key and all lights come on but same thing happens when I turn to start..."click and EVERYTHING shuts off again" whats going on??? maybe a certain fuse or relay....I have to be @ work in an hr and a half, so if ANYONE can help, thats much appreciated

Try pulling a few fuses w/ the batter still connected. That's the only thing I can think of off the top of my head.

Check the battery terminals too.

That is a classic symptom of poor battery terminal connections. Clean and tighten and you'll be good to go.

...

i'm just hoping its not the starter. Its just weird, itll do it then stay totally off for 5-10 min then like reset, but then it does it again when i go to start

DaddySS Sep 2, 2005 04:38 PM

Don't worry, just clean and tighten - you'll see :)

ok

im somewhat narrowing it down now.now it does it when i just turn the key to acc. position so i dont think its the starter, my connection to the batt is tight but is rigged with this shitty bolt and when I move the test light below where the terminal is on the batt, to the part where the wire is exposed there where its crimped on I get no power, its starting to sound like a shitty connection. anyone agree?

problem

only problem is I don't have one of those special lookin battery bolts GM uses to put the wire on the right way, not sure if advance has em either,

FartCanPolice Sep 2, 2005 04:52 PM

Yes!!!!

Found the special little bolt to go in the terminal ( was in toolbox go figure)
bolt i put in there guess worked for a lil while but looked kinda rusty well I put the other bolt on and cleaned it off and viola!!! Damn i'm a dumbass, I shoulda thought of that first. I guess the GM bolts are stainless steel?? well all is well now, thanks for all your help, as I was freaking out too much to think with some common sense, O well, off to work
