Need Input!!

Get in the car to go to work and nothing happend. Turn the key like to start it and nothing turns over, no sounds from anything. All lights are on like normal. Went ahead and replaced the battery. Going to check the fuses out also. What happends when a starter goes out? Are these the symptoms? Also has a code come up Terminal L? What exactly is that? Any help appreciated!!

Thanks
Jason

You need to get someone with a multimeter to check the voltages for you.

I have checked all the fuses. Im a Elec Eng Tech so measuring voltages wont be a problem. Just dont know what they should be at what points. Obviously 12volts at the battery back to the starter. When the key is on what points should be juiced and which ones not?

Thanks

Well if you're getting power to and from the starter, you can elminate that as being the problem. :)

try tapping it with a hammer. i know alot of guys will flame me for this, but sometimes if the solenoid is stuck it will loosen it up.

Well all the voltages look good at the starter with the key on also. Looked at the alternator looked good as well. Going to replace starter for grins.

You should see a power draw if its going to the Starter... frozen or not. Have you tried in Neutral? Make sure it is solid in park (This will prevent it from starting)...

When you try to start it I have power on the small wire going to the starter. Will try in Neutral. I bought a new starter from the dealership and broke one terminal off so looks like I might have to buy another one at 350 bucks and who knows it might not even fix the problem! :bang:

Got her running this morning! Replaced the starter cleaned all the terminals up and she fired right up!

Nice job, bet you're glad that was the problem ;)

Whats weird is I had the old starter tested and it was fine??? But I figured it had 100K miles on it. Probably original so what the heck. The Alternator is only a year old. Took a chance and it worked.
