Default replacing 94 ford ranger 4cyl power steering pump?

my uncle has a 94 ford ranger 4cyl. his power steering pulley wont spin at all (the others do). he needs a new power steering pump. My question is how hard will it be to install. will i need a new pulley since his locked up? This will be my first attempt to do one, so if someone that has the time could give me some details on what exactly i will need and some advice on how to do it, that would be wonderful. thanks a million.

Power steering pump is usually pretty simple to change. Can most likely re-use the pulley. This will be the case if it is not spinning because the pump itself (not the pulley) is locked up. Best thing to do is to go to an auto parts store & buy a 94 Haynes manual for a Ford Ranger. It will give details about how to change the pump. Can probably find one @ AutoZone. While you're there, borrow a gear puller so that you can remove the pulley from the existing pump. Just tell them what you are doing & they will supply the correct sized puller. Good-luck.
