Default need help pinpointing RPM specific noise

i'm getting some sort of odd rasping noise under the car. it only occurs at a specific RPM (approximatley 1300-1400rpms). it also only occurs when accelerating, not decelerating or while in neutral. at first i thought it was just an exhaust vibration, but it sounds like it's coming from the middle of the vehicle, so i'm thinking transmission. i only really notice it when putting around town, accelerating really slow... thats not to say that its not happening when accelerating fast, but when accelerating fast, the exhaust noise prohibits me from being able to hear it.

it drives me nuts, so if anyone can offer any advice, that would be great!

Exhaust system follows the motor as it rolls on the
bungy stock mounts, so acceleration back-torque
may bring the Y-pipe or I-pipe into contact with the
floor pan or underside features. Get it up onto ramps
and run your hand down the entire exhaust plumbing,
anyplace your fingers won't fit between pipe and
body is suspect.

I just went throught the same pain. It turned out that the hole where the spare tire is located was vibrating. The side of that hole that faces towards the middle of the car was vibrating at those same rpm's from all of the noise coming from underneath my car. Whack it with a big hammer a few times from the inside to take out the slack and see if it goes away. If it doesn't, get a soft mallet and start hitting things under your car to try and make the same noise. Let me know what it end it being.
