Default two questions: squeeky rear hatch AND my first winter with my car

Ok, my first question is about my rear hatch. It constantly squeeks while going down the road, sounds like it's the driver's side shock that holds them up when it's open. Can I simply oil this or what's the best way to get rid of the squeek?

This is also my first winter with my car. I will be driving it still, what are some things I need to do, such as fluids and other protectants against cold weather. I'll be putting some 5w-30 oil tomorrow

Thanks in advance

If it's the DS hatch support, the only thing you can do with it as far as repairs is to replace it.
For your winter fluids, depends on where you live, I'm in Kansas and it does get pretty cold here sometimes, I don't really do anything special for fluids, other than Mobil one synthetic oil 5w-30 weight, other than that nothing different from the summer.

+1 I threw my three tool boxes in the trunk and it helped more for traction than I thought it would.

I second that.

I use Blizzak WS-50 tires on cheap steel wheels.
I got them as a package Mounted/Balanced/Delivered from TireRack (a Sponsor).

The only other thing I do for the winter (I always run 5w30 Mobil 1 Synthetic oil) is keep a blanket and a snow brush in the car (I always have an umbrella in the car too -- all year 'round).

You might also want to use a windshield washer fluid with a de-icing/anti-freeze agent in it. I've seen the regular blue stuff freeze. You can run that all year too.
