Horn doesn't work when wheel turned

Just like the header says. If my steering wheel is turned the horn will not work. If it's perfectly straight and the planets are aligned it'll sound though. I was in an accident a few years ago and the airbag was deployed, but everything was repaired by a qualified shop. Given that I'm sure though that it is related to the airbag going off. Is is possible to service it myself? I'm not sure how the airbag is placed in relation to the horn button.

It is possible to get to this yourself. However, BE CAREFUL! I had to replace the turn signal switch in mine and it was a little unnerving getting that airbag out after reading all the warnings. As long as you disconnect the air bag connections you'll be fine. So, as long as your careful, its not hard to get in there.

Dont worry the airbag is not a magic bomb that if you rock it the wrong way will blow up on you. Chances are the vehicle needs a part called a cancel cam that goes behind the clockspring and lockplate in the column. They usually break at the top behind the airbag and allow the horn contact wire to fall out or get loose causing the problem you are describing. The part is only about 20$ but takes a couple of special tools to change since you have to pull the sterring wheel, lockplate etc.
