LT1 backfired, smoked, then shut off

Need Help W/lt1 so earlier i was driving my ta and while i was accelerating at about 65 mph and 4k rpm the car backfired shot smoke and ran for about 20 more seconds sputtering and then shut off. wtf? car turns over but wont start i havent checked if it still has spark yet. any suggestions on what it could be?

If the Opti doesn't fix it check your ignition module. I had the same problem...changed my opti and didn't fix it. Changed the ignition module and shes as good as new. Take your ignition module off and take it to advanced auto and they can test it. Its cheaper to replace that than the opti so you might want to try it first.

the car is getting spark. when i try to start the car the security light comes on and wont turn over. if i wait it will eventually turn over but wont start is the vats shutting off fuel at the injecters?

yes yes it gets spark...........it over heats and then shuts off until its cold and then you'll be able to start it up for a LITTLe while. check it first. ALOT cheaper then opti spark
