I had one used on my Trans Am and it worked fine ... wouldn't wnat just anyone trying it though without knowing it wouldn't pull loose any wiring connectors. Go online real quick and see if you can find a diagram of where everything in the door is located and you should be able to tell if it's safe to do without hosing anything up.

GO to the dealer and get a key made. They can do it from your vin. I've done it before. Was like $15 or something.

Yes, have a key made from any GM dealer. If would be advisable to call that locksmith, if you do go with the key from a dealer, as I'm sure the locksmith will still charge you if he comes and doesn't unlock your car.

Have you locked the keys in the car?

Umm do you have t-tops? If so you can pull the passenger side window out just enough to reach your arm in and unlatch it, take it off, and unlock the door.

wow...didn't know it was that easy to get in the car. i'm going to have to try that...and then lock my tops, so someone else can just open the car. the alarm would go off, but still they wouldn't even have to break anything.

the remote uses radio waves, not audible waves, which is what the cell phone is going to transmit...

occasionally people will suggest this trying to see how many people will go for it...he most likely copied it from a forwarded email, notice the >'s....and you know how reliable those are...

edit: here's the snopes article...verifying it's false...

http://www.snopes.com/autos/techno/keyless.asp

in the article they say what i said about the radio vs audible waves...

Yeah, Ive gotten into my car many times just pull the window. If It helps you can use a some oil(cooking) or somthing and your arm will slide right in. I swear there is so many ways to get into a Fbody its not even funny.

How does On-Star do it? Via satellite? Interesting theory on the cell phone thing.

Our cars are the most simple vehicles to break into. The window pulls out really easily. Trust me, I've been through this a few times. lol
