Car won't start

I have a 97 Transam i was about to leave from work one day got in my car everything worked the lights came on the interior lights the buzzers were working but when i turned the key to start it everything died the starter will not do anything i was thinkin a fuseable link. If anyone else has had this problem or knows what it is i would greatly appreciate it!!!

In the past, I have had issues with a battery having enough power to run all the interior lights but not able to crank the motor. Did the lights go dim when you tried to start it? Could you even hear the starter clicking?

Maybe put a charger on the battery for a while, then see if it'll crank.

I tried to get boosted off from a friend of mine we hook up the cables but it didnt help
and the starter doesnt make any noise!

How long did you have the cables connected? Sometimes you have to let your battery charge off the other car for 5-10 mins before it'll have enough juice to crank.

If you charge the battery and you aren't getting anything it sounds like you probably have a bad starter.

thnx fortunately it broke at work and I work at Oreily autoparts so i will take the battery out and do a test and charge then if its good ima test the starter!!

Negative Cable

Check the Negative battery Cable. If that is loose (check both ends) or bad then you will experience the symptoms described.

no cause if the neg cable was bad or loose i wouldnt not have all my electric stuff like remote door locks and headlights and interior lights

my 02 did about the same thing. Ended up being the ignition relay under the hood. I wiggled it around and it started.

Shooter_Jay Dec 19, 2005 09:00 PM

or was it the starter relay maybe, well on the ls1 they are right next to each other. Not sure on your 97 though.

If your headlights are working, then I agree. Keep us posted on the outcome.

Thanks
