Help! Car Won't Start Hey guys, This morning I went to go start up the car and it started up just fine and I went to the gym and I got home. Well later tonight I had to go to my grandmas house so I get into the car and try to start it and nothing happens. I jumpstarted it with no problem and drove off to my grandmas. Well, I just wanted to test to see if the car would start if I turned it off. So I turn it off and then turn the ingition again. It does the exact same thing again. I can hear the starter clicking but nothing happens. I mean this was just after a 10 minute drive and I would think that should have charged up the battery? Does anyone have any input? Thanks! |
Sounds like a bad battery,........ or at the least dirty cables or a loose cable, look at the cheap and easy stuff 1st. What was your volt gauge reading when it was running? |
Check the battery connections and grounds. How many volts does it read when started? How long since last new battery? |
I just got a new battery about two months ago and the strange thing is after I left my grandmas house I drove around on the freeway for about 30 minutes and when I got home I turned it off and turned it on again. The car started right up I think maybe the battery wasnt charged enough the first time? Still I don't see how the battery was drained this afternoon. Thanks for the help guys. |
Oh yeah the voltmeter read at about a constant 13 volts the entire time. It never dipped below 13 so I assume thats alright? |
Sounds like parasitic drain. I would try pulling different fuses one at a time like the dome light, radio, ect, and see if the car does it over a week period. If you pull a fuse and it doesn't happen anymore maybe you found the problem. |
If you have any kind of power lead or anything coming from an amplifier that is not ground properly you will have parasitic loss over time. |

Yeah sometimes it can be the problem but not if you have the stock system. |
