Default How do I remove under coating? And a few weight questions

I bought my car when I lived in Omaha and the dealer advised me to have the car under coated to help prevent rust. It's a thick layer of siemi hardened goo. Now I live in S. Carolina and have no use for the extra weight on my car. it weighs in at 3550 on the scale without me in it. Isn't that a little heavy for a 99 M6 with t-tops?

Tap it off gently with flat tipped ice-pick and hammer?

It's too gummy to chip it off. When my rearend was going out it spun fluid on a section. Over time, it left a spot I could wipe away with a rag, which gave me this idea but I'm not about to spray rearend fluid under it for a few months. I just don't like how it looks under there compared to other cars I've seen and I know it has to be adding at least 50lbs to my car. Isn't 3550 a little heavy for my car? What do other t-top Zs weigh? I read in a mag that a stock 99 SS hard top weighs 3350. T-tops and the hood can't add 200lbs, can it?

Geez, after reading that I'm starting to sound like my ol' lady when she gets on the scale!
