Default How much loss of oil thorugh dip stick tube inlet???

I just installed my headers and forgot to put the dip stick tube back in in my ls1 01 ws6 I was just wondering how much oil I lost you think and if it is safe to drive my car back up to the garge to get it I drove around all day with the tube out I noticed oil on the drive way thats what made me remember. I have not noticed a drop in oil pressure.

I wouldn't drive it anywhere until I got it fixed and once I got it back together the first thing I'd do is change the oil and filter.

i admit that i did the same thing - i was down 1 quart after 50 miles - when i got back to the garage and changed the oil, it did look very clean - no chunks of anything or dirt grit

yeah, i wouldnt drive it anymore tell u get the dipstick back in because u have no clue how much oil you have lost and u dont want to be driving around when your down a quart or two, just like "blue01ta" said i would get that back in there a.s.a.p and change your oil and filter. i wouldnt worry about as much if it was in like your daily driven 4 banger or v6, im not saying that it isnt good for it but i would trust it more in one of those.but in a high performance car, personally i would never drive around unless i had the right amount of oil in the car.

For how much you lost - the low oil level light comes on when it's about 2 quarts low.

thats just what i want to be doing....NOT! the funny thing is that the oil will get to places that u wouldnt think that it would get to. so u have alot of cleaning ahead of u, especially if u lost a quart or two.
