Default Need Help!!! Check Gauges Light Flashing ... Help Me Out !!

I have a 98 trans am ls1 and the check gauges light keeps flashing and my voltage battery meter is going down and down. I replaced the altantor and checked the battery and they say its still good. The voltage starts to go down and the lights begin to die and finally the car died . Please help me out send me a pm with tips . thanks

Your alternator connector has a red wire,it probably broke inside the insulation or its disconected

You might have a fried wire somewhere inside the loom.

Are you still using the ac delco junk batt? Had the same problem a while back and it turned out to be a bad positive post, loose inside.
Take a look at battery cables all the ends pwr & ground(s) make sure they are clean and tight.

Yes.... if it is a delco it is only a matter of time before it pukes its guts as well. Made a mess out of my bay.

What did you use for the alternator replacement, a parts store brand, or a new GM one, I've had a boat load of problems with the parts store (rebuilt) alternators, so if I need a new Alt, I go with the new one from GM (yes it's more money, but having to replace 5 parts store alternators in 2 weeks is not worth the savings IMO)

Default i got one

I bought the alt at the local parts store Autozone and i was looking at the wire that hooks up to the alt and it appears to be cut and someone taped it back together. so you think t hat is the problem how can i fix it? and do i need to charge my battery up again it is dead and its is not a delco battery at all. let me know guys thanks for the help

Solder the wire back together, and use some heatshrink tube to cover the repair, and if your batterys dead, you'll need to either jump start the car, or charge the battery
