Default A/C recharge after cam swap?

I removed the A/C when I did the cam in my car. Now the system is empty. Do I need to have a dealership refill the system and take the air out, or can I just refill it with the R134 that you can buy in an auto parts store?

I havent messed with f-body AC, but any other car I have filled or converted over it was just fine doing it myself with a kit or can from a number of stores. Maybe someone else will chime in with more exp. in this??

Once the system is open to the atmosphere technically it should be vacuumed to remove mositure before recharging. Give it a whirl and try it yourself. If it doesn't work any AC shop can do it - I'd stay clear of the dealer, they'll charge you (no pun intended) way too much.

That's what I thought.

there is a high quality kit in the stores that does create the vacuum before adding the R134. I think because your system is empty I would just get it professionally done.
