Secondly, you need to at least have the front O2 sensors plugged in, they tell the engine if it's air/fuel ratio is lean or rich, so that it can adjust accordingly. The rear O2's can be replaced by sims, they just tell the system if the catalytic converters are working. Most people get sims for the rear whether they have cats or not. It's just easier, as the sims report a constant "Everything's Fine" signal. If you were to put those on the front, they'd tell the computer the "Everything's Fine" and it wouldn't adjust properly for any changes that it needed to.
As for still throwing codes, the most common code with long tubes where the front O2's are used is an Insufficient Swithing or Heating code. This is due to the O2's being further from the engine, so they don't heat up as fast. There are two easy ways to get around this:
1) Cheap fix - Turn the car to the on position but don't start it for 30+ seconds to give the element time to heat up.
2) Expensive fix - Use the Bosch 13111 O2 sensor. It's the rear O2 on the Corvette, and it has a better heating element, and it has a longer harness so you won't need to but O2 extensions. But the sensors will cost you ~$70 minimum each.
