Default my car wont stay running...

My car just today stopped running, it was fine in the morning, i drove to work, drove home, parked it, all running as usuall, SSDD...shut it off, went inside... then about 45 mintues later i went to start my car up to go to class, and it went to about 500 rpm and sputtered out... i tried it again and again, with the same results, it would almost catch, but then sputter out, after the 6 or 7th try it would barely even get up to 500rpm, just sputter a big and thats it. Anybody have some ideas?

I checked under to car to see if there was a wire or something hanging like from my 02's... but nuttin...

My only mods are SLP loudmouth catback, bbk throttle body, maf ends, and K + N fipk... i also have sportlines, so maybe i hit something important pulling in my driveway? it does bottom out sometimes.

Obviously its getting spark... and the batterys strong... there were no warning signs...

I was thinking maybe:
Fuel pump
fuel filter
02 sensors?
...
maybe somethign more major... any ideas or some tests i can try to rule some things out would be a big help...

thanks in advance

o yea and i checked my oil and coolant and both were fine...

Fuel filter would be a simple and cheap fix, $10 and 10 minutes.

Can you hear the pump prime up before you start your car?

yes i can... actually i tested that and for spark... both checked out. so i got some starter fluid **** for the car, sprayed it in my filter and started it too see if it was a fuel problem... sure enough it started right up... but it never died out... just kept running, i revved it up too, still kept going... so i shut it off, and restarted it... started right up... so i guess its fixed... almost like i flooded my car... ? i didnt know you could do that... maybe i fowled up the plugs a bit or something, we'll see tomorrow morning

Mine was starting and then cutting off (similar to yours?), changed the fuel filter wasnt that. Had to take it to a mechanic.. told me it was the MAF sensor, and had to replace it.

200something for a new maf, rest was labor
375$ fix

yikes i have had thunderracing maf ends on my car for like well over a year without a problem... maybe thats it but i would be surpised it woudl just start up like htat... recently i got a SES light, it was for a air pump... would that cause this kinda problem?

once the car is running its fine... its getting it started thats a problem.

Your air is supposed to help your emissions during startup. So it might be something to check out, although ive never heard of this problem before, so dimitri may have a point as well. Since it is a problem he has already faced. All you can probably do is the process of elimination. Good luck!!!

Did it shoot out black smoke when you were trying to start it/after it started?

I could only keep mine going if I gave it gas, and would eventually die out

^^ well i'm thinking its a fueling issue, it wont stay running at all now. I'm gonna change my fuel filter tomorrow hopefully that will help, if not it might be my pump i guess? if so i'll prolly just get a racetronix job as i plan to spray when the car is running good (yea that will solve my problems, right?) short of installing a fuel pressure gauge onto my car is there a way i can check if its not getting fuel?

I know, it was pretty expensive and I told him that too. Thing is I didnt know it was the MAF until he told me and changed it already. :\
