Found a bearing ball stuck in my EGR valve, any suggestions?

Found a bearing ball stuck in my EGR valve, any suggestions? I have a 2000 SS and had the SES light come on yesterday. The code that came up was for the EGR valve. When I took the EGR valve off I found a 1/8" bearing ball holding the valve open. I also heard what I assume were other bearing parts going thru my exhaust when the light first came on. I don't have a clue where these could have come from, so if anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks, Mike.
